This week, our Year One children enjoyed a visit to Beamish Museum as an introduction to our new history topic of mining. The visit brought our learning to life, giving us a chance to explore what life was like for miners and their families in the past. The children visited the mine and saw traditional mining cottages.A highlight of the day was a visit to a recreation of the home of the famous painter Norman Cornish, who we will be learning about in Art. Well done to all of Year One for representing our school so well and for showing great interest in our local history!
