Take 10 to Read

On Thursday 8th October, our pupils took part in an exciting official Guinness World Record attempt organised by the National Literacy Trust and the British Council, joining schools across the nation to set the record for the most people reading online in 12 hours.

Our classes logged into live interactive streams throughout the afternoon. Years 1–3 enjoyed a lively reading of Super Uma with author Rashmi Sirdeshpande, followed by a fantastic draw-along session with illustrator Nakul P, while Years 4–6 tuned in to hear acclaimed author Frank Cottrell-Boyce read from his book, The Blockbusters!. Armed with books, comics, magazines and even match reports brought in from home, every child took part in a dedicated 10-minute reading session during the webinars to ensure their numbers officially counted toward the world record attempt. Thank you to our pupils for their brilliant enthusiasm and to our families and staff for supporting such an inspiring celebration of reading!
