Starlight viewing castles

Looking at castles in Chester-le-Street

This term, our Key Stage 1 children have been diving into the fascinating topic, ‘Why can we see a castle from our school yard?’

Starlight class have become true castle experts as they have explored the history and features of Lumley Castle, which can be seen from our very own school grounds. The children have loved learning about different types of castles, from motte-and-bailey to stone keeps, and have enthusiastically investigated the key features that made castles strong, safe, and spectacular!

Starlight class has shown amazing curiosity and creativity. We’re incredibly proud of their research skills and how engaged they’ve been in this exciting local history topic.
