This week, year 5 have had some exciting visitors. They arrived on Monday in egg form and then gradually, during the week, they emerged from the safety of their eggs to become little tiny chicks! They have brought great curiosity and immense pleasure to the school who saw such lovely, fluffy bundles of joy. The process of pecking through the shell to escape was captured on the visualiser showing in graphic detail – which was quite disturbing – how the chick bursts through the egg to enter the warm incubator.
After 24 hours, they are transferred into their enclosure – this is where they start to eat food and drink water and become the proper fledglings that we see now. All 10 chicks eventually hatched and created much excitement and noise in year 5.
