
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have tried something new – Yoga. Beth, a trained yoga teacher from the Durham and Chester-le-Street School Sports Partnership, has been in and delivered 6 sessions over the term. It was something totally different to what we normally do in PE.
We learnt how stretching can help strengthen our muscles while helping our balance and coordination. Beth had some fun games as well as teaching us about breathing techniques to bring a little calm to our busy days. Beth is photographed here demonstrating the eagle pose.
One sequence that was taught was the Sun Sequence – this has a number of poses including elephant, proud horse, cobra and dog. The pupils loved it.
