Year 5 visit Jarrow Hall

Year 5 took their history learning out of the classroom this week with an action-packed educational visit to Jarrow Hall to discover the fascinating world of the Vikings!

The pupils stepped back in time to explore early medieval life through hands-on activities and interactive workshops:

  • Life in the Village: Exploring reconstructed period buildings to discover how Anglo-Saxons and Vikings lived, cooked, traded, and farmed together.

  • Shield Walls & Tactics: Learning about Viking combat, armor, and weapons, before working as a team to test out real Viking battle tactics and shield formations.

  • Artifacts & Norse Sagas: Examining historical replicas in the museum and listening to dramatic tales of Norse gods, raiders, and daring sea voyages.

Our pupils represented the school brilliantly throughout the trip, asking thoughtful questions and showing fantastic enthusiasm. It was an unforgettable day that truly brought their history topic to life!
