This week, we have had a couple of workshops to support parents in helping their children with their maths work. Showing them about how we encourage pupils to set out their maths calculations to show their formal methods is an important feature of achieving well in maths. This was covered during the KS2 workshop. Also, using ideas of bar modelling to solve problems is another useful skill that is encouraged during maths lessons.
The KS1 workshop focussed on Fractions and Time. We demonstrated how we teach these concepts in school, so that the methods we use in class can be mirrored at home to build the childrens’ confidence!
Two very useful workshops.
